Atonement has him playing (surprise) a totally, posh ass.

As does Starter for Ten (although his part is relatively small - the film is recommended for any James McAvoy fans though).

Only other place I’ve seen Cumberbatch was the first season of Sherlock which my wife insisted I watch. I felt that Martin Freeman was more interesting, both the character of Watson and Freeman’s performance.

The writers of Sherlock have said that, although the crime solving is interesting, the main point of the series for them is the relationship between Holmes and Watson.
I think Cumberbatch and Freeman carry this off magnificently.

I haven’t seen Parade’s End mentioned. That’s the first thing I saw him in and still my favorite.

Just what I came in to post. He was great in both Henry VI, Part III and Richard III. That scene in the Henry VI movie where he comes to kill the former king at the end is bone-chilling.

I also loved The Imitation Game. His Alan Turing certainly makes Sheldon Cooper look silly.

Yep, agree on the Histories, though I thought he was better in the stripped down film version of Tinker Tailor than the Turing thing
