What's best way to get candle wax off wood?

We have candle wax in our wooden wall unit, anyone know an easy way of getting it off?
Rather than just scapping it off with a putty knife?

Ice it down, so it’s very hard, and try to snap it off. It will still leave a mark, but you can often polish it out so that it looks ok.

I haven’t managed to get it off without minor damage, however, those long lighters worked well for me, the ones that are good for starting pilot lights and such. You heat the wax to melting and dab it off quickly with a damp sponge as it drips. This only works if the wood is relatively smooth. I don’t think it would work with a grainier woods.

I had wax on carpet one time. I used a brown paper bag (like from the grocery store). Lay that on top of the wax, and then run an iron over that. I think the heat kind of sucks it up to the paper where it stays. Worked great for carpet!

Heat the wax with a hair dryer, and slide something like a plastic spatula (or even a credit card) underneath, removing as much wax as you can. Wipe as much residue as possible with a cloth, then clean the area with a small dot of liquid soap and a wet rag.
