What's in Matrix goop? - a nutrition question

The diet shake things do leave you feeling hungry. I like the idea of People Kibble because I feel it would fill up your tummy more, being more solid. I guess you have a good idea. Patent it! Sell it!

how about Quinoa ? it’s a complete protein, can be used as a substitute for rice, and has a relatively low glycemic load…

I just cook mine and mix in some soy sauce or other condiment of choice for an instant goop meal!

Tip: Soak in water for 15 mins before cooking to remove the bitterness

How about Quinoa for what? For a completely nutritious goop it fails by having little to no vitamins of any kind according to this: Nutrient Data Laboratory

I know they say you’re not supposed to eat so much of it, but my bachelor chow was often tuna salad sandwiches. Grab a 30ct bottle of vitamins at the dollar store and drink some milk every so often.

Well, if it helps anyone, Idusted off an old link to a retro-futurism page describing a “synthetic food experiment” circa 1965. The synthetic “food” being more like a “syrup.”

I think I might have seen a film clip of this on an old Cronkite documentary, but I can’t be sure. Not much to go on—though it DOES have a comprehensive table for the “Composition of an artificial diet entirely composed of purified chemical compounds,” by ingredient, in grams (per-serving?).

ok maybe it doesn’t contain all the vitamins on its own, but if you were to make your own nutritious goop, you would need to add a few other ingredients to it.. a complete protein source is a good start..

Quinoa - Vitamin B6, Folate, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Iron and Zinc, complete amino acid profile
Spinach and Mixed Baby Greens - source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Folate and Manganese
Avocado - Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Folate, Pantothenic Acid, Magnesium, Potassium and Copper
Pumpkin Seeds - Vitamin K, Iron, Magnesium and Zinc
Hemp seeds - Vit A,C,E,B1,B2,B6,Omega 3,6,9s,calcium,iron - not in the usda database however! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemp#Nutrition

It would take a bit of research and with the help of some computer processing.. but if you went through a massive food database and looked at all the superfoods and calculated the daily serving size required to meet the RDI figures for all the essential nutrients, you could come up with the most efficient selection of natural whole foods possible.. then you would need to consider seasons, locations and foods that go well together..

I would much rather a natural culinary approach than some synthetic or supplementary type of concoction..

Has anybody brought up what they feed to people on feeding tubes? Isn’t that all those people get, and it seems to be enough?

Funny that this thread should reappear just now. There is indeed a guy out there who is living the dream!
