What's in the jar on Moe's bar?

Indeed, I am a sheltered lad.

I’m not really big on pickled anything, really. Maybe the occasional dill pickle, but that’s about it.

They sell the big jars of pickled eggs at our local Smart and Final. If I ever get my house with the bar, I plan to buy a jar for decoration.

Several years ago, Playboy ran an article written by a chef to various Mafia heavies, complete with a couple of recipes. I remember the author mentioning that one guy kept a thumb that he had severed from someone in a pickle jar on the back of his bar as a memento. The spaghetti sauce that went with that story was pretty good.

I keep hearing this, but it’s on, at least in Denver. I saw it within the last two weeks. Maybe it’s been pulled in some areas?

And if I’d read further,I’d see that others already adressed this.

Having never met a pickled egg in person, but having done the whol egg-left-in-vinagar thing in elementary school, I gotta ask-

Pickled eggs: shelled or unshelled?

Pickled eggs are peeled before pickling. Speaking of a “rubber egg” (whole egg soaked in vinegar for several weeks to remove the calcium from the shell), my mom was my Den Mother in Cub Scouts for awhile. We made a rubber egg and she was showing it to the rest of the den. One kid suggested she try bouncing it. She did and it did, maybe once, before breaking and spilling all over her coffee table.
