I have to take exception with ya there Cristi, he’s claimed to be the worlds smartest human being all the time… fact you would probably hear it daily if you were in personal contact with the man I would venture.

My first mistake was posting this in MPSIMS instead of GQ. Someone mentioned that Cecil had the widest knowledge base in the world. Is this a serious claim? Surely there are savants who know far more than he does, perhaps even people who DON’T research it for a living.
This thread is not meant as disrespectful to Cecil, I am just wondering how much reverence towards him is simply… well, irreverence.

Cecil’s claim is to be the “smartest” human being, not the “most sexually powerful” nor the “most intelligent.” You gotta admit, you read any of his stuff, he’s smart. Smart-thinking and smart-mouthed.
And, frankly, Cecil’s claims about himself need to be taken … um… yeah, well, he’s my boss’s boss.

This is really going to be a pointless thread, no matter what forum it’s posted in. I know loyal Dopers will post all kinds of reasons why Cecil is great, and all KarmaComa will do is reply, “Yeah, but what’s so great about that?”

But seriously, my reason for initially posting was that I was wondering how much was genuine reverence and how much is tongue-in-cheek fawning.

He has allowed Karma not only to begin this thread but continue posting baiting remarks to it, and Cecil, in his boundless magnanimity, has elected to be tolerant, instead of snapping his metaphorical fingers and having Karma erased from the planet.

Of course he does. Did you think this was some sort of intellectual “Kamp Krusty”, where the namesake never shows up?
