Forgot to mention: Goethe’s profile appeared on the German National Prize for Art and Science, a “Nazi Nobel” which Hitler created after a German pacifist was awarded a real Nobel. The pacifist was in a concentration camp at the time, and was not allowed to attend the award ceremony (big surprise there). Hitler ordered that no German could receive a Nobel Prize, and set up a German-only award in its stead. Only eight people received it before the Third Reich met its well-deserved end.
