My husband’s fondest dream is to rent a house somewhere for a week with the entire family. I’d like to surprise him and make that happen for his birthday next year, and am thinking of Kauai. We were there once and really loved the north end of the island. But it was February and the weather was alternately beautiful and stormy.
What is the best time of year to plan a week there with a “guarantee” of decent weather? I know it’s changeable, but I’m looking for the best time weatherwise.
Thanks.
The Princeville side of the island goes from somewhat rainy in the summer to quite rainy in the winter.
I’m more a fan of staying around Poipu, on the south-western side of the island. Significantly more sun over there.

I thought about Poipu, but we loved the environment and “feel” of the north end. We stayed waaay up, about a mile from where the road ends at Tunnels Beach, and just loved it. We’re not big on beachy-resorty places.
Summertime for sure. I live on the north shore and we get rain nearly every day even in the summer. In late autumn, winter and early spring that rain can last all day to a whole week. In the summer the rain can last from a few minutes to maybe a whole day.
