what's the deal with 85% hexanes?

I just thumbed through a trade journal (American Laboratory March 2006 p.22) and found a blurb discussing the cesation of production of 85% hexanes (I think I can still find it on chemical suppliers websites). Is this really a big deal? I suspect not; but the author (Dr. Farina of Mallinckrodt Baker) seemed to make it out to be a problem.

Is it true?
Is it a big deal?
Are there any chemists out there who will be adversly affected by this?
Why not just mix 60% and 95% to produce and continue to sell 85%?
