If I’m reading the links correctly, it sounds as if stout is a more full-bodied porter.

Sorta. That’s for your basic dry stout. Once you get into Imperial, Sweet, Oatmeal and the other variations of stout, all bets are off. The Wiki article on porter is quite accurate.
