We just bought a new computer for me at work (LOADED…I am a happy girl:), and it arrived today. Now comes the arduous task of getting everything from the old computer onto the new computer. Is there an easier way to do that other than simply burning files into a CD? How do I do this?
Assuming both machines are of the same type,(i.e., both are PC’s) you could simply take the harddrive out of the old machine, and connect it as a secondary harddrive in the new machine. It shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes or so, and all you need is a phillips screwdriver, and (maybe an anti-static wristband, but I have gotten away without using them for simple harddrive moves.)
It’s a Gateway (stuff the groans and hisses, we have all Gateways at my office and they all work beautifully:)), Pentium 4 2.66, 512 MB of RAM, CD-RW and CD-Rom drives, flat-panel monitor, kick-ass sound system (my co-worker left and I was blasting Bach - the composer, sue me, I have a music degree and I listen to classical music all day), and a few other things - it’s extremely fast. I’m quite happy with it - I almost asked if I could go in on Saturday just to play around with it.
