What's the easiest way to record PS2 games?

I was just day dreaming here at my desk about recording a game of NHL Hitz digitally and then editing the images in with music and live video cuts. Like making a music video, for example, and editing in recorded clips from the game occasionally.

The new Macs have pretty good programs for editing video and audio, but my problem would be to record the games digitally. I suppose I could simply hook up a vcr and record them onto VHS, but I’d still have to convert those into a digital format and I dont have a dvd writer/recorder either.

Is there a way I could record the game directly onto a laptop? Or is there another way of doing this w/out having to purchase a dvd writer/recorder?

Your best bet is to get a video capture card/device and hook the video and audio cables from the PS2 in to record digitally.

Then when you’re done editing just use video out to record to a vcr.

That begs a really cool copyright question.

You don’t own any rights, beyond “fair use” personal enjoyment rights, to this game of yours, do you?

For example. If you’re in a band, and make a music video for MTV including, say, images of your video gameplay, you’d be up a creek if you didn’t buy the rights from the correct people at the game company - yes?
