I did good then, huh?
Good thing it didn’t happen in current time. As thin as I was and the throwing up incidents I’d have been suspected of bullimia and sent for an eval!

Fast enough to knock a kid out of one of his cleats. That was fun!
Fast enough to outrun someone I had just stripped of the ball.
In a timed run? 5:45 mile.
And in the past four years: a 9:00 mile (yuck). I got lazy and slower!
I hate running, but a few weeks ago while I was running to the station I also suddenly experienced that “flying through the air with feet only occasionally hitting the ground” feeling. It felt really good, and I thought “If running always felt like this I’d do it more often!”. I’ll have to see if I can somehow recapture it.
But the fastest I ever ran was when I was a kid, about 12 years old, playing football on the village green in a thunderstorm. Lightning struck a row of trees about 50 yards away. I think I covered the mile back home before the steam had stopped rising.
I beat the fastest guy in school (7th grade) in a race from 3rd to home when he decided to run me down instead of throwing to home. I’ve never won another race.
A 19:51 5k, which is pretty good since it was my first one ever. I tend to do the longer races, which leads to my slowest race – a 10:04 50 miler (that’s hours:minutes), but it was all above 10,000ft and included about 9,000ft of climbing total.
