I think I’ve heard of Wuhan, though I wouldn’t swear to it. But I’ve definitely never heard of Tianjin.
#38, Surat, India. I totally thought I’d get tripped up on one of those Chinese cities that has quintupled in size over the last decade or two.
Me too. Been to 22 of the cities, though.
For all you people who have never heard of Wuhan, I’ve actually been there. It’s the terminus of the Three Gorges Yangtse river cruise, which I was lucky enough to go on before they finished that humongous damn. The start of it is Chongqing, #35 on the list.

Ahmedabad for me.
I’ve been to Wuhan and it’s nothing special. All I remember about it was that it was 40C/105F.
The only cities on the list I didn’t recognize were the Indian ones & I’ve been to 8 of them.

I may be in Wuhan later this year, if I decide to go out of the way a bit when going from Xi’an to Nanjing.
So, I’m the only person here who’d never heard of #6, Sao Paulo?

Never heard of Wuhan. Now I want to go there, just to see people’s expression when I tell them where I’ve been.

My parents are from Ahmedabad 
Wuhan for me too and then a couple of other Chinese ones. I had no trouble with the Indian and Pakistani ones though – even though I hadn;t realised Chennai was the same place as Madras. I’m in the UK I’m guessing we carry a lot more news form the sub continent than the US.

Yup, Wuhan. I too kinda want to visit now.
After that I made it down to Chennai before getting stumped again. A couple of the Chinese and Indian cities are vaguely familiar and I could obviously tell that they were in those countries simply by the sound of the name but when pressed I couldn’t tell you where in the country they were or anything about them.
Surat for me.
The only other non-Indian city that I haven’t heard of is Abidjan.
