Having come by chance upon the IMHO thread (commenced 06-05-2014) “How Many of the 20 Largest Cities in your Country have you been to?” – I’m moved to start a thread which (see title) is a variant on that.
My country is, compared to many, of a modest-to-small size – the UK: easier than many, to travel intensively, I would think. I enjoy travelling around and seeing different places; am English, always resident in England, and consider myself pretty well-acquainted first-hand with England and Wales. (The other countries of the UK, much less so.)
Consulting the list of UK towns and cities in descending order of population, given by “LoveMyTown.co.uk – the UK Civic Pride Website”: the largest place population-wise in England and Wales, which I have for certain never been to, turns out to be the 111th on the list, re England / Wales only. It’s South Shields – population 75,337, in the Tyne & Wear region, right by the point where the River Tyne flows into the North Sea.
Would be interested to hear anyone else’s findings on this matter, re their country.
Don’t have to go so far down the list for me - never been to Bradford (11th) or Cardiff (12th) or Hull (15th).
Never visiting Cardiff is pretty poor, tbh, I should put that right. Hull as well - now they’ve got electricity and running water there’s no reason not to go.
I’ve been to NYC, LA, Chicago, Philly, and Phoenix, so I guess Houston takes it for myself. Never been there, though now that I live near Memphis, it’s never been so close.
We don’t really have cities per se in Cayman. I’ve lived here more than 12 years but never visited the two smaller islands Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.
