What's the Latin term for when rich/powerful Romans "held court?"

I remember reading/seeing in various sources, instances of rich/powerful ancient Romans spending their days holding a private court where they would be asked favors from others with the expectation of votes or favors in return. What was this “process” called?

Hospitium? Patrocinium? Patron/client relationship?

I figured there was more of a colloquial term but maybe there isn’t.
