What's the meaning of your userne?

At the time I joined, I was in a kinda low spot in my life.
Just been through a bad this, was looking at a crummy
that, etc. So I thought “well, I’ve been reading the Dope
since the Lame-O days. Let’s join up and see how that changes
my life.”

So, I did the paperwork, got the various certifications
in order and then I couldn’t think of a cool username.
We all know - names are power here. ™
As it turned out, I was late for an appointment to get an
undescended testicle seen to, so I screamed to myself:

“For God’s sake, put something down - ANYTHING! Oh my GOD!
That’s what you’re putting down?!? FOR CHRISSAKE, DON’T
PRESS SEND!” “Shit.”

Oops! TMI?

Um, I like pie? And circle thingies?

I’m a hairy gay man who lives near a swamp.

formerly known as spooje

I can neither spell nor type well.

I have Type O Negative Blood

And I think the band is really cool.

…couldn’t find the salt shaker…

Well, that seems to be a requirement around here. Mmmm…pie.

Not to mention that nasty gouge on his heel.

Back in the early days of the web, when AoL chatrooms were the hotness and emoticons were more of a thing, I was joking around with some friends about emoticons to go with different sentences.

Dave Barry had a joke about putting them on classic literature, like:

It was the best of times :), it was the worst of times :frowning:
Call me Ishmael

And I realized you could make a walrus with (:3=

IRL my first name is Kirk. I have introduced myself as “Kirk as in Captain James T.” for basically my whole life. This has, at times, allowed people to pronounce and spell my name correctly.

When I started posting here the first responses I got were often along the lines of…

“Wait, we have been a board for 13 years and you are the first person to have this username?”

Capt

My last name’s Nottingham, and at work they called me Nott. Somehow, they got to thinking of me as a human encyclopedia. Don’t know the answer? Ask Nott.

Also a nice pun on a JFK quote.

I seeded genetic information into developing proto-world’s biospheres. Yes, Wesley is the next step in human evolution.

Margarita Pie recipe. Awesome looking. Gonna have to try that as soon as it stops looking like the inside of a frozen Margarita blender around here.

Favorite character from my favorite movie, Local Hero (introduced here).

Kayaker posted

Wow. All these years I’ve always pictured you paddling around on a river somewhere.

I’m kinda getting the feeling that this particular kayak goes “Whoosh!” but maybe that’s just the cynic in me.

You’re spooje?

I’ve been looking over long-ago threads of late, and wondered what happened to many of the old-time posters, LIKE YOURSELF man. Lamenting even. When did you drop spooje?

And of course, over the intervening years, I have confused Typo Negative with Typo Knig. Never had such issues with spooje! You were one of a kind. :stuck_out_tongue:

See how important usernames are, choose one with care kids.

That’s a rather personal question, isn’t it?

Oh my. Normally I read over my posts to see whether such unintended gaffs are made…obviously not this time.

Apologies Typo Negative. :smack:

Hands kambuckta a wet-wipe

Whoosh indeed. Never thought it might. . . :D:D:D

'K. Used to being laughed at.

Heckle & Jeckle:

Have you tried magpie pie without magpies? It’s simply delicious. Just take the juice of one watermelon, add seasoning…
