What's the most money won on The Weakest Link?

I watch re-runs of this show on GSN all of the time, and in all of the shows I’ve seen, I think I’ve only seen jackpots over $100k two or three times…and one of those was on a teen tournament!!

The potential payout is $1mm, and part of the show was Anne Robinson berating the players for their pathetic performance.

Did anyone ever climb the whole 8-question ladder and get the round’s $125k goal in one swoop? I know I saw one show where Anne pointed out that they had answered 8 questions in a row, but someone had banked halfway through so they didn’t complete the $125k chain.

Anyone know where I can find out what the best jackpot was?

I have no idea if this is still true or not but on a google search for “weakest link” + “most money”, I found this site saying LeVar Burton won $167,500 as part of the Star Trek episode in November 2001, making his the biggest pot to date.

I’m oddly proud of that, if true.

Okay, nevermind. After hitting submit, I clicked on a couple more links and found this page at TV Tome saying $189,500 was the highest.

Geordi made $22,000 less.

Interesting…so there has been an 8 question chain achieved, but the top prize is still pretty weak, all things considered.

I suppose, but it’s not necessarily realistic to think that it should be possible to reach the maximum. I mean, think of Jeopardy. I think it’s possible to win a couple million on one day, but the record is less than 500,000 I think.

THe single-day record in Jeopardy is less than 50k, unless Ken has surpassed that recently.

Ken’s single-day record is $75,000, on the last day of the last season.

I’ve never understood the structure on Weakest Link. If the contestants manage to answer eight in a row and bank $125,000, does the round immediately stop? If they answer seven in a row and someone banks (for $60,000, if I recall correctly), then answer eight in a row and bank (for a total of $185,000), does it get rounded down? I can’t see how a group that was fast and accurate enough couldn’t pull this off in the first round when they have the most time. In practice, I can see why this is extremely unlikely, but there doesn’t seem to be any mechanism in place to keep teams from calmly picking up more than $125 G in one round.
