Whats the most over played band on rock radio in your area?

Let me clarify that: I rarely hear the SAME song more than once or twice in that time. They definitely play more than one or two songs in that time. Sorry.

Here in Austin, it doesn’t matter whether you’re listening to a new rock station, a “classic rock” station, a youth-oriented station, a “soft-rock” station, or a public radio station, there’s no way to escape from hearing WAY too much Stevie Ray vaughn.

Yes, I know he was a genuine Austinite… and I know it’s a shame he died young… but frankly, I didn’t like him all that much when he was alive. And 20 minute blues guitar solos are as boring now as they were in the 80s.

A couple of weeks ago, I achieved the trifecta!

I hate the Dave Matthews Band, so when it came came on the radio in the car, I changed the station which was also playing DMB, so I changed it again to another which was also playing the DMB.

Not just the same band, the same freakin’ song.

VAN HALEN!

damn sometimes its really annoying. our station seems to really love them here.

Years ago, I got to hear the trifecta on the radio. But it was “Wheel In The Sky” by Journey. Two pop stations and a classic rock station, and the song was already old and played out then.

** widdershins**, I listened to WRAX for a few years (back when they were 105.9 the Bear and you couldn’t get them terribly far out of Birmingham, even) and the very things you listed are what made me stop listening. Also, they dumped my favorite morning show EVER and I was incensed.

A lot of my favorite bands now are bands I heard on WRAX when I was younger, but now they only play the same 20 songs over and over and over and over…

Do they still do Reg’s Coffeehouse on Sundays? That’s the only time I can listen to halfway-decent music.

Reg’s Coffeehouse is still on as far as I know. One of my few joys on Sundays after a long bad Saturday at work was to wake up early enough to catch part of Reg’s. Great music, and very soothing for me at a time when I need it. Lately, I sleep most of Sunday daytime, so I don’t get to hear it.

Since this has developed into more than just one band a piece, I have to second Nevermind and License to Ill as WAY overplayed. I swear to god I cannot stand Fight for your Roght to party, or No Sleep till Brooklyn. That whole album was crap. The Beasties are NOT the shit. You never EVER hear the DJ mention that Kerry King did most of the guitar i that album.

Nevermind. Good album. Its been played to death. It needs to be shelved for about 10 years, then break it out again and we may like it again.

As a side note, if the only Helmet you ever heard was on the radio you would think that they released one song over the course of there 10 year career. Unsung. Thats the ONLY song I have ever heard by them on the radio. They have had like 4 albums sing then people.

The local college radio station here in Omaha used to be an “Alternative” station. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, REM, the Cure, etc. Then, a few years ago, they started playing Kid Rock. Then Limp Bizcuit. Now they are full hard on “modern rock”. The bastard child of Grunge, Glam Rock and Rap/Metal. I for one dont listen to the radio but my SO does. I don’t know the names of these “bands”(in quotes because I can barely call them that) but I hear a lot of that stupid click click boom song and that really really idiotic youth of a nation. They were big on creed for awhile there, but I think I heard that they banned them. They still try to cater to their old audience by playing the occasional “smells like teen spirit” <sarcasm> every nirvana fans FAVORITE song</sarcasm> or Beastie Boys but for the most part they play crap.
dead0man

In St. Louis, at least 50% of the stations it seems like have Puddle of Mudd’s song “Blurry” in their play-it-till-you-hate-it rotation.

My radio always plays good stuff that I like.
OOPS, that’s my cd player. Sorry.

At work I hear the radio and its always the same thing, day after day, month after month. It does not matter if its classic, modern, country, they play the same stuff in their genre over and over.

I always wonder how the DJs handle it, because they can’t change the station and they have to listen to it. Maybe I have just discovered why DJs are such idiots, their brain cells have committed suicide so they don’t have to hear (insert song here) anymore.

In Newark/Wilmington, Delaware, we get the Philadelphia stations
they tend to play way too much Creed. Kid Rock, and Incubus.

I actually like Nickelback, P.O.D., Puddle of Mudd, Pearl Jam.

I don’t mind when they play Alien Ant farm, and EMINEM.

One Philly Station WYSP, used to play rock music, but now throughout the day is talk, from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

It hasn’t been so bad lately but whenever they release an album you always have to watch out for the dreaded Red Hot Chili Peppers.

staind

I wonder if their lead singer realized just how much he WHINES! Jesus, give me a break pal. You wanna cry, go cry to your mommy, cause I’m changing the damn station!!
