What's the most powerful machine you've been on?

The Queen Mary

Same here. I was one of about 200 sailors given a weekend ride, we were all at the end of our enlistement period and the Navy used the trip to try to get us to re-enlist. We were treated like kings for 28 hours then like crap for 2 because most of us would not sign up on the spot.

Most powerful machine under way that I’ve been on was this beauty

More than 15 double-decker buses long, twice the width of a traditional ferry, and the size of a football pitch, the Stena HSS is the largest fast ferry in the world.

…Operating speed…40 Knots / 46 mph

It has a food court, a couple of bars, a casino, a movie theatre, kids’ playground a dance floor…The ferry to Holland was one of the best parts of the weekend!

Well, the most powerful vehicle I’ve been on would have to be the USS Midway, the most powerful machine would be Hoover Dam ([Chris Farley] That tour was freakin’ Awesome![/CF]) and the most powerful in terms of HP/wt ratio that I’ve driven would be a 1972 Kawasaki 500 - zero to holy shit in zip point squat seconds. 9.98 second quarter mile. They’d have to pick me up with a sponge if I fell off at this speed powerful. Damn, I used to be crazy.

Two strokes is scary fun… he he he

We are all on the most powerful … the energy of the Earth moving through space is bigger and more powerful than anything we have ON the Earth.

Some Navy types might have been at the helm of a carrier. or others a giant drilling platform.

But what is the biggest / most powerful that you have been in sole command of and also the sole control of?

I would think our airline pilots on the board would win that one.

Maybe we have a Navy man that commanded a ship and also was qualified to helm the same ? Or a regular ship captain?

Is one of the shuttle commanders lurking?

Slim Pickens was for a little bit…

I’ve flown on a 747, been deep inside Hoover Dam (alas, they’ve discontinued that tour) and have also been inside the Queen Mary.

Does having console access to certain servers and the ability to thoroughly muck up electronic commerce in America count? We do call 'em machines, ya know.

Most powerful thing I’ve actually driven would have to be this thing.

I’ve touched, but not been inside, the shuttle Discovery.

I’ve run a 3 unit lashup of diesel locomotives…

I just can’t help myself.

Shuffles feet and sniffles
I was going to say Kitty Hawk but nooooo, somebody has to chime in with a new carrier.

But I can say one odd thing I’ve done, have you ever walked UNDERNEATH an aircraft carrier?

I can’t resist…

The most powerful thing I’ve been on…My husband’s willie…

Thank you…thank you…I’ll be here all week.

It takes no power at all to keep the Earth moving through space.

Thank you…thank you…I’ll be here all week.

[/QUOTE]

Now, if you had said "I’ll be there all week…

Slight nitpick, none of those google maps images were taken from space

Is that a giant subwoofer next to the cab? It looks to be about 3 feet across!

My wife would say that a Sybian was the most powerful machine she’s ever been on…

(If you Google that, do NOT do it at work!)

You mean that round thing on the top left? Looks like an open hatch, to me…

Try to stop it though …

Are they not satellite photos?? I mean, I read that they were on the internet so it must be true!

I KNEW someone would not be able to resist that.
