What's the most recent movie you've watched that's older than you are?

The title covers the topic.

For me, it’s Odd Man Out (1947). I picked up a copy at Barnes and Nobles’ Criterion sale.

Mrs. Miniver (1942), about an hour ago. This film is as old as my mother.

Being born in 1970, I’ve seen 25 features in the cinema and countless more on TCM that fall into this category this year alone. The latest? 1933’s Wild Boys of the Road by William Wellman. Fantastic.

Saw Casablanca for 1st time a few years ago.

Born in 1961. I’ve seen a few, some Hitchcock, for example. Wizard of Oz and It’s a Wonderful Life. Nothing else I recall off hand, and nothing in the past 10 years or so.

ETA: Casablanca. Thanks Bijou Drains.

I was born in 1946 so I haven’t seen a movie older than me for awhile ! I love b/w movies that are older than me. My daughter did buy a DVD of movies older than me but there was no CC. :frowning:

Dark Passage, 1947, about 6 years ago. Born in 1960.

Just watched Dr. Strangelove for the billionth time a couple weeks ago.

Whole movie end to end would be If I were King with Ronald Colman and Basil Rathbone.

Rathbone’s portrayal of one of France’s meaner King Louises was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. His cackling Snidley Whiplash performance would do honor to any community theater.

I know I’ve said on this Board that I don’t like today’s trend for minimalist acting, but Jesus Zero Mostel, there’s a limit!

All About Eve

It’s not as much older than me as I’d like.:frowning:

I just watched The Paradine Case yesterday, which was IIRC, 1947, but I regularly watch old movies.

Here’s what’s on my DVR:

Notorious
Flesh and the Devil (a silent film with Garbo)
Show Boat (the original, from the 30s)
The Lady Vanishes
Blackmail
The Most Dangerous Game
The Black Cat
Frankenstein
The Monster (the silent Lon Chaney film)
Dinner at Eight
Dangerous Corner
To Be or Not to Be (my all time favorite)
The Effects of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds
Wait Until Dark
The Wizard of Oz
Grand Hotel
Gaslight
Orphans of the Storm
One Potato, Two Potato
A Patch of Blue
My Favorite Wife
Love Affair
The Joy of Living

Only like, three of those were made when I was a toddler, and some were made before my parents were born.

ETA: I was recently out of town; that’s why so many movies backlogged on the DVR.

Rewatched Psycho recently.

Born in 1960. Last week I convinced my 21-year-old son and his 20-year-old girlfriend that The Third Man (1949) was one of the greatest movies ever and that they should watch it. I, of course, needed to watch along with them for, ah, research purposes.

I watch very old movies frequently, though. When the kid was seven one of his friends said “My Dad watches black and white movies, how weird is THAT?” He rolled his eyes and said “My Dad watches SILENT movies.”

I was up until 04:00 on Sunday watching Never Wave at a WAC (1953) with Rosalind Russell, Marie Wilson, and (YAY!) Gen Omar Bradley.

I was born in January 1955. I wonder how many people today would get the play on words in the title.

Looking at the full cast list, I see Virginia Christine (aka “Mrs Olsen,” the Folger’s coffee lady) was also in the movie, but was uncredited.

Not including various MST3Ks, that would be Rebecca (1940) and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947) about a month ago.

I recently re-watched Double Indemnity (1944), released a year before I was born.

The Court Jester, one of my five most favorite comedy movies. Danny Kaye, Glynnis Johns, Basil Rathbone, Angela Lansbury, Paramount Pictures, 1956.

ETA: Just realized I could be Remington Steele … :stuck_out_tongue:

I get it. Born 1967.
