A few weeks ago my friend’s dad shot a partridge and I decided to try it - not bad, kind of like chicken.
I was also in South America recently and decided to try llama. It was really quite tasty, they say it will be the new designer meat since it is delicious and healthy. I say “they” said the same thing about buffalo and ostrich, and those certainly aren’t mainstream yet.
It comes in little pre-flavored bricks.
I’ve tried BBQ flavor, Thai Peanut Flavor and Teriyaki Flavor.
Yum! Love the texture. I’ve been throwing it in pita pockets or between two slices of bread with some lettuce, cucumber and red bell pepper. Yum yum yum. Think I’ll buy more over the weekend.
Chimichangas - another lovely American invention in fusion food - is very much like a deep-fried burrito.
It is normally filled (when from a Mexican restaurant) with refried beans, rice, and meat of choice (machaca [roast beef of sorts] chicken, or shredded pork). It is then (where I’ve had them) covered in lettuce, and served with salsa and guacamole.
They are very yummy, but definitely not a dieter’s delight!
On my last trip to Germany, I was invited to a typical Bavarian meal in a quaint, and very old, Bavarian restaurant on the outskirts of Munich. Other than the standard sauerkraut, my selected dish (I asked my host to order for me) was a mountain of meat, from every conceivable part of the concerned animal!! Some of it tasted good, I must admit. but some of it…!!! No offense to the Germans, but how can you eat that???
On the other hand, I just love the Nussschnecken. Does anyone know the english name for them (if there is one)?
