Whats the name of this college/university maths book ?

I’m trying to find a specific book for my Dad, I think it would make a good christmas present so I can’t really probe him for more info.

The information I have is:
It is a mathematics book used at university or college in the late 60’s and 70’s.
apparently it sells for about £100 now on ebay.
it is no longer in print so second hand is the only option.

If it helps:
My dad went to university in Nottingham, England.
he studied Maths and Physics.

I know this is a long shot, I would appreciate any help.

Do you have any idea what it’s about?

Im not certain, mum thinks he mentioned it has some good calculus and trigonometry. Although I imagine it would be a bit more specialised if it sells for £100 now.

The title is probably “Introductory College Mathematics”. Unfortunately, that doesn’t help you at all, since that’s the title of every single college math text ever written. Ultimately, what you’ll need is an author, not just a title.

What you’ve posted so far doesn’t narrow things down at all (including the price tag: That’s about typical for an out-of-print college textbook). If probing your father is out of the question, do you at least know what school he attended in Nottingham, and narrow down the year he was there more? You might be able to find out from the physics or math departments there what books they were using at the time.

Thanks for the advice, I don’t think his University exists any more, so im handing this one over to mum.

Thomas had a widely used book on calculus - I used it both in AP Calc and in Freshman calc, around 1970.

Here is the entry for the latest edition, not the one we used back then. That one has a yellow-orange cover. I actually still have mine. If this is the right book, I can give you more details.
