What's the name of your High School Football team?

I went to 3 different High Schools but the one I was at the longest, was called the (name of crappy little town) Wildcats. The town I now live in, is the home of the Green Wave.

The Bluejays. How intimidating is that?

the Raiders

Nice, except for those jet black helmets in 100 degree heat. It was like playing with your head in an oven.

Fighting Irish (and the Lady Irish).

The name of the school was Notre Dame…what else was the nickname going to be?

I also had Fighting Irish, but the school was John F. Kennedy.

The Skippers!

No, they don’t skip … it’s the nautical meaning.

That was a long time ago and I was a Theater Fag.

We had a football team?

We did not have a football team. But all other teams were the Eagles.

The Terriers

The city and the school were founded by New Englanders who headed out to California.

They gave the High School the mascot name of Terriers, in honor of the Boston U Terriers.

My school district had three high schools: the Indians, the Chiefs, the Rengades. The newest school will be the Golden Eagles. I should mention that the schools were built in the late '50, the early '70, the late '80, and next year, respectively. Hooray for political correctness.

The Crusaders up here, but my High School? Hmm…The Panthers.Yeah, that’s it.

The next town over had the Galloping Ghosts and their statue mascot looked VERY MUCH like a Klansman, hooded, on horseback. It was problematic…

Cartooniverse

The Mustangs. Our school had a huge statue of a white horse on the entranceway. The most “interesting” thing about it is that it was [sub]ahem[/sub] anatomically correct.

In New Orleans, my highschool’s mascot was The Crusaders. It was an all guy’s Catholic high school.

In Beaumont, it was the Bulldogs.

The Tigers.

Back then (pre-Title IX), we barely had women’s sports teams. But in recent years, I’ve seen the Lady Tigers (college team) in the paper occasionally, and my mind invariably inserts ‘or the’ in between.

The Cardinals.

Two of 'em; one, the Rebels, are still so named. I haven’t checked on the others, the Redskins, lately.

Hey there, Craneop2, I’m Houston '71.

The Blue Jackets. No, not a piece of clothing, but a rare form of bee.

The Buffaloes. Then my first two years of college we were The Bisons. I didn’t even have to change graphics.
