What's the Official Mod ruling on "Drumpf"?

I quoted you saying that very thing. How is it that I can quote what you say but you keep saying you didn’t say it?

Why do you keep arguing with me dishonestly?

Now you even get pedantic about who gave the Warning. You and tom are the mods, and so obviously anything referring to you is referring to him, too.

Please stop harassing me.

And yet the mods are allowed to be literal to me, and Colibri is allowed to keep posting in an attempt to get me so angry that I do something wrong. Heck, I bet I get dinged for saying “quoted” instead of referenced.

Not only that, but they have absolutely no way of telling whether you’re running the extension or not, unless the extension actually interacts in some way with the server.

For example, some websites detect whether or not you’re running an ad-blocking extension, and ask you to disable it. But they only know that you’re doing this because you’re blocking their ads.

I guess it might be possible for a server to detect all of the extensions running in a browser, but considering that the mods here basically aren’t allowed to do anything related to the server or even the vBulletin code, i’d wager a lot of money that there’s no way they can tell if you’re running a particular extension in your browser.

Waitaminit-Are you saying that if ANY mod gives you a warning you can claim that ALL mods gave you a warning?

One of the solutions is to uninstall the extension. Jonathan Chance did not say that was the only solution. He offered a menu of three potential solutions.

If you want to use an extension to change Trump to Drumpf, either the current one or the one that you seem to believe will have the world beating a path to your door, fine, feel free. If that results in you breaking the rules about altering quotes, then you’ll get noted or warned. I have no sympathy.

BigT, I meant that sincerely. I genuinely feel sorry for your burden. :frowning:

If one mod doesn’t put his dirty dishes in the dishwasher, did all mods not put their dirty dishes in the dishwasher? NEED ANSWER FAST.

I know they wouldn’t be able to detect it. But I have to be able to tell people about it.

And, again, why aren’t they giving me a straight answer? Why do they keep talking about everything I say but answering that question?

Again, it’s their job. If a poster asks about the rules on a specific situation, they are supposed to answer it.

Thanks, but you’re not a mod. Hence why I keep asking the mods.

Are you going to keep asking until you get the answer you want? I understand what they said and what they want-there doesn’t seem to be any complication or contradiction in their requests as far as I can see.

You’ve discovered the SDMB wing of the Bilderberg Group.

I can’t believe this is still unclear to you.

Anyway, it strikes me that you’re going to wind up being like the guy with a warehouse full of pogo sticks just as hula hoops take off. Nobody seems too interested.

So, I specifically mention how something is bothering me, and you expect me to believe you’re saying it out of genuine concern.

I know you told me in PMs that you think I’m stupid. But I’m not that stupid. I can read fucking sarcasm.

I could have said the same thing you are saying now in those PMs. But I tried to be nice to you, even though you were attacking me.

I don’t appreciate you treating me in this manner. You know the history, unlike everyone else. Heck, I used the word “harrassing” to hopefully remind you.

Moderator Action

Things are getting a bit heated for ATMB. I’m going to close this for 24 hours to give everyone a chance to cool down.

Thread temporarily closed.

If a poster has an overwhelming need to identify the current presidential candidate Donald Trump with the name “Drumpf,” that poster may do so, provided that the text is their own and not in text quoted from another poster and provided no other rules of the SDMB, (such as creating a sentence using Drumpf that insults another poster), are broken.

To clarify, this would not be OK in General Questions, where it would constitute a political jab.

To be sure, I don’t think any question on Donald Trump is likely to stay in GQ very long, at least at present.

Not even one about his hair?

ISTM I’ve seen mod notes for political jabs in IMHO too, or maybe MPSIMS. IIRC, I think I myself got one once.

What is the rule for political jabs in IMHO and MPSIMS?

There is no specific rule, but political jabs could lead to a hijack and should generally be avoided. For specifics you’ll have to ask the mods of those forums. There is a rule against political jabs in breaking news stories in MPSIMS (see the sticky).
