I got asked this question today by Lady Chance and did some searching. But there’s conflicting data out there (that I could find, at least).
Anyone know where I can find raw numbers and percentages?

No, I don’t know the answer to that. The thing is, a lot of homeschoolers are philosophically opposed to telling the government what they’re doing; so they don’t register as anything, which is perfectly legal in some areas and not in others. Here in CA, a lot of people register as private schools, so if you wanted to find out, you’d have to go through all the private schools and figure out which ones are really homeschools, and then add all the people using umbrella schools, and the ones doing independent study through public schools, which doesn’t always count as real homeschooling…it’s an enormous job, and I’m not sure anyone has done it properly, or if it’s even possible.
Anyway you might find this PDF useful. http://www.fraserinstitute.ca/admin/books/files/homeschool.pdf Enjoy.
