What's the Sourest Edible Substance? (n/t)

n/t

P.S. (n/t) means No Text!!!

Don’t know about sour, but Cecil’s Mailbag has discussed taste.
Besides sweet, sour, etc., is there a fifth taste sensation, “umami”?

Yes. That’s the column that inspired me to ask this…

And here’s another on tasteAre birds immune to hot pepper, enabling them to eat vast amounts and spread the seeds?

I Appreciate the thought, but these columns don’t really have that much to do with the OP

For the record, the coating on Mega Warheads includes malic,
ascorbic, and citric acid. I think “edible” may be a blurry line if you get those concentrations high enough to be really sour.

Hurrah!

I mean edible as in non-poisonous.

That was what I was thinking. I think that the hard candy version of Mega Warheads may be pushing the line. Have you put 3 or 4 of those things in your mouth at once?

Hell, I’ve eaten so many warheads and Shocktarts (breakfast for a HS student) I can no longer taste sour, and eat whole lemons to amaze (read: amuse) my friends… oh well,

but I’d have to agree with Malic and Citric acids, they are (were for me) damned sour
