What's the word?

I’m looking for an ism that GWB got accused of when he brought his lackeys into high status positions in his administration. It’s synonymous with favoritism, but at a political level. For the life of me I can’t get the word to appear from the dark recesses of my brain.

Cronyism?

Nepotism?

Nepotism it is.

Sorry, gotta favor cronyism: The practice of favoring one’s close friends, esp. in political appointments.

Nepotism: patronage bestowed or favoritism shown on the basis of family relationship, as in business and politics: She was accused of nepotism when she made her nephew an officer of the firm.

The above cites were from dictionary.com, BTW.

Yeah, even though I suggested nepotism, I am thinking cronyism is a better fit.

How he got in the Whte House is nepotism.

Yep.

Yep! Cronyism it is. =) Man, that felt like finally reaching a part of your body that’s been itching for awhile.

I dunno about that since he was"hired" by the voters, not a relative (though arguably, party members impressed by his family got him the nomination); a better term might be “romanticism” on the part of voters who seem to want the restoration of the monarchy.

Anyway, I vote “cronyism” for the OP’s question.

Johannesburg!

Old Gil Scott Heron tune.

ahem

oooookay.

Q

Thunderbird!

Even older cheapass wine commercial.

I figured nepotism for in 1999 when the governor of Florida was involved with the bondoggle that was his state, putting Bush in office 2000.

:sigh:

I’m quite liberal and comments like this are embarrassing. His connections in politics might be nepotism, but he did win without help from Jeb Bush.

Anyway…

:sigh:

Yeah, if Jeb had had that much influence, it wouldn’t have had to go to SCUSA.
