FYI, Adult Swim runs a cartoon called “Perfect Hair” late in the lineup. It’s a send-up of very bad anime art and plots.
Princess Mononoke? Ghost in the Shell? Worst anime ever? Can’t have watched very much anime.
It’s kind of unfair picking on stuff from the 60s like Speed Racer and Cyborg 009.
I’ll go with MAPS, even though I’ve kind of forced it out out of my memory. Just a bad ly desinged and animated generic fantasy anime, one of many direct-to-video titles cranked out during the 80s boom years.
Tons. Pretentious melodramatic crap just rubs me the wrong way, is all.
Mrs. Evil Captor nominates “Sailor and the Seven Ballz,” an adult parody of Sailor Moon and a couple of others. Its main problem is that the frame rate is so slow that it hardly qualified as animation. IIRC 16 frames per second is what’s generally considered necessary for smooth animation. A lot of anime cheat and take it down to 8 fps. But Seven Ballz is about 2 fps. You can see each frame change, clearly and distinctly, and you kinda have to wait for the next one.
On top of that, it’s a strikingly unfunny parody which makes no sense whatsoever. A real stinkeroo. The people who complain about Akira (which i don’t like, but it’s at least competently done) and Ghost in the Shell don’t know what they’re missing.
