According to Entertainment Weekly, Chappelle actually did tape “four or five” (their quote) episodes of sketches, but not the corresponding link material to make them ready-for-broadcast.
I was unaware anything had been taped this season. The quality must really be questionable if Chapelle walked away from a season in progress to regroup.
Amend my statement to “no unaired Chapelle show here – at least, none he’ll approve of.”
I could personally stand a little more of the continuing saga of Wayne Brady on th Chapelle Show.
According to Neal Brennan and Doug Herzog (head of Comedy Central) in the Time article, the skits were as good as last season. Chappelle himself doesn’t seem to think his unaired work is weak.
