What's up with Mara Jade?

So I’m looking at Star Wars stuff and I come across some 8x10 stills that are autographed.

And one of them is Mara Jade! MJ was (I thought) a character only from the books/comics/etc. But this actually has a woman in the role autographing as Mara Jade.

What’s up with that? Is she actually going to be in a movie or something? Or is this some horrible device that Lucas will digitally insert when he finally gets around to releasing IV, V and VI on DVD?

Shudder to think.

She is the model used for most of the Mara Jade drawings/paintings/likenesses. Saw her in person at Celebration II in Indianapolis a couple of years ago. Very pretty and really seems to dig the role she gets to play. If my computer weren’t screwing up and actually displaying pictures, I’d link you to a picture. There’s probably one on starwars.com though.

Well, my first guess is that it’s a hoax. But then, it’s possible that the autograph might be of the model that posed for Mara Jade’s image on the cover of Vector Prime, first in the New Jedi Order series. But I’d have to see it to know for sure.

Max had it. When they first started developing the Star Wars card game, they wanted faces for popular non-film characters, and so they hired models etc. to fill the roles.

Interestingly, two of the most famous characters, Corran Horn and Talon Karrde, where played by their novelist creators - Mike Stackpole and Timothy Zahn respectively.

If I’m understanding you correctly, then you’re talking about Shannon McCrandle. Here is here website.
