What's with Audi's "missing A3" advertisements?

If you haven’t seen these, Audi of America has run both TV spots and magazine ads featuring a “Have you seen this car? VIN=WAUZZZ8P65A045963” If they’re serious… well that’s interesting. If it’s just promotional, then what a strange campaign indeed. Thoughts?

Answered my own question. It’s a game (Cite: http://www.stolena3.com/archives/001176.html ). Let’s change the focus of this thread: This sort of marketing tactic (creating a mysterious game) has been used in the past, by… BMW, IIRC. There was also a computer game called “The Majestic” that, when you signed up for it, would call your phone and send you emails to bring the game into your daily life. Have any of you played these games? Do you think it’s an effective marketing tactic or a waste of money on the companies’ part?
