What's wrong with my DVD player?

It keeps freezing when I try to go to jump to main menus.

Does it happen with every disc, or just one?

Most of them.

Is it possible that the problem may be related to your remote control? Here’s how I would test that theory:

Is the menu jump feature available from the front panel of your player? If so, try jumping to the main menu using that control button instead. If it jumps without problems, it may be some sort of contamination in the keypad for your remote. If you have a universal remote that will work with your player, try it instead and see if you get the same results. If the universal remote works properly, then you definitely have a problem with your player’s OEM remote.

If you feel like cleaning the contact pads on the remote, take the batteries out, remove any screws holding the remote shut and gently pry the two halves of the remote apart. Carefully swab the back of the keys and the contact board of the remote with rubbing alcohol. Making sure that everything is dry, reassemble the remote and try it out. If you’ve done your work properly, all of the remote features will work. If the rubber keys on the remote are really gummed up, you can usually remove the entire rubber key membrane from the remote shell and carefully wash it with mild soap. Rinse and dry the membrane completely before reassembling. (It goes without saying that you should never dip any kind of unprotected electronics into water, so be careful about what you’re doing.)

Hope this helps.
