What's wrong?

Classical Music lovers check my reply to “Your First Concert”.
What’s wrong?

Unless I’m mistaken, those are all unaccompanied keyboard pieces. (My music lit is a little rusty, mind you.) It’s unlikely an orchestra would be playing these unless they were playing an orchestral arrangement of them.

I am guessing MrKnowItAll is right. I am a Classical Music fan, with a considerable music collection, but my eyes glaze over and some of the details of many pieces. My dad would be appalled if he were still alive (he’d do cute “pop quiz” things, testing our knowledge…I’ve forgotten so much.)

I was just glad to see some Classical music being represented on that thread. There are other forms of music other than pop/rock, you know!

What’s wrong-------
Beethoven’s “Fur Elise” is a short solo piano work…
Schubert’s “Die Forelle” or “The Trout” is a String Quintete, Chamber Music.
Bach’s T&F in d is a pipe organ work (though, it has been orchestrated)
& Vavidi’s Concerti Grossi were not yet rediscovered at that time.

Carl

Ah well, i was close. I wasn’t familiar with the Schubert, and I was guessing with the Concerti Grossi. I figured it was a harpsichord piece.

BTW, who is this Vavidi guy? My copy of Grout’s A History of Western Music doesn’t mention him at all.
