What's Your Bathroom Reading Material?

Why do you read in the bathroom? Shouldn’t you be concentrating on prime mission objectives?

Lots and lots of puzzle magazines!! (Cryptograms, Sum Totals, Anagram Magic Squares, Logic Puzzles, etc.)

Heck, the PDA thing doesn’t sound bad except that I’d never keep it charged.

Currently “An introduction to genetic algorithms” by Melanie Mitchell. Not one I’d recommend.

Have you ever forgotten someones name, and the more you struggle to remember it the more futile it becomes? Then you realize that if you think about it too much you could hurt yourself and if you just stop thinking about it for a while it’ll pop into your head all by itself.

Kind of the same thing.

I’m just too laid back to force the…erm…hand of nature. I’d rather sit and wait than get all in a lather trying to evacuate my bowels.

We have two bathrooms. In one is George Carlin’s “When will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?” Perfect for bathroom reading.

In the other “main” bathroom there are only coin collecting magazines, because I finished my latest read, “Why Me?” by Leola Mae Harmon. If I have time, I’ll grab my current read.

Yeah, but when that happens to me I pull my pants back up and go do something else. If the urge strikes me, I may indeed read. But I will do so sitting comfortably on a couch, not perched on a toilet seat.

I read aloud from the Oxford English Dictionary.

Right now, Onion and Dilbert books.

Whatever magazines we’ve got around the house - People, Newsweek, Better Homes & Gardens - or a random catalog. If it feels like a long visit, I’ll take whatever book I’m reading. And I’ll sit there the extra couple of minutes it takes to get to a good stopping point (in the book) if I’m otherwise finished.

Reading on the john is what separates us from the lower animals. You non-john readers should just accept the fact that you’re weird and unusual and move on.
