Dad’s maternal grandmother was from northern Finland, and we’re not entirely sure the specific origin of the paternal grandparents on his side-- they emigrated from Odessa and were Jewish with a Polish-Russian-Slavic looking surname, but we can’t be sure exactly where they originated in Europe before emigration.
I’m 3/4 Scandinavian and 1/4 “we’re not sure but the surname’s Slavic” European Jewish. I strongly identify with the Scandinavian bits, as it was a big part of the home culture.

(On my father’s side all the men are steel workers (including my father himself). Out of this Furnace is practically my family history.)

Mom: French-Canadian. Small amounts of probably Cree. Possibly some Spanish, but fuck if anyone knows. Breton way back.
Dad: Greek for half. German/Austrian/Hungarian for the other half.
Ashkenazi Jewish, from just about every country in Eastern Europe. (We’ve been in America for a long time, so there’s quite a mix in there).
Mother’s side 98% Swiss, traced back to Spiez and Oberstocken, Bern, in 1490. Schaffhausen and Thierachern show up on there too. The 2% is Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg, Germany.
Father’s side: A couple of people got the fuck out of Bohemia before World War I. It’s Czechoslovakia now. Names? Dates? ???
On my dad’s side, Ashkenazi Jew (Ukraine, Lithuania, Estonia).
On my mom’s side, Irish.
Dad: Scottish, English, Welsh. Ancestors came over around 1850-1880 to work in the coal mines in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
Mom: My grandmother’s parents were immigrants from Moravia (around the current Czech/Slovak border) and settled in the east side of Manhattan in the 1900’s. My grandfather’s father was from Hanau, Germany. My grandfather’s mother was from somewhere near Lucerne or Zurich, Switzerland. Both moved to Manhattan in the 1900’s.
