I am part Irish, English, Scottish, German and Russian. I guess I am a colossial mut. Being Michael Masterson I get asked, “Are you related to Bat Masterson?” And the answer is yes, he is in the mix. And how about all of you? What is your descent?
I’m Irish, Scottish, Welsh, English, French, Dutch, German, Cherokee, and possibly some other Indian tribes. In short, I’m a product of the American melting pot, famed in song and legend.

100% Finnish, my family just doesn’t have the gypsy spirit…
TMR, was one of your grandparents Finnish? I have some relatives in Canada and in Oregon (I think…). Are there any other Dopers with some Finn mixed in? I seem to remember… sunbear?

Here’s a question: When do I get to start saying I’m of American descent? If you give “American” as an answer it is percieved as vague. Why? Sure, melting pot, blah blah, and everything, but why doesn’t it count to just say “American”. When will that be an acceptable answer when discussing heritage? [/tangent]
My ancestors, the French ones, have been on this continent since the early 1700’s and the English ancestors came over not too long after that.
