Ugghh. Poor Lucrezia D. Hellcatt, and poor you! She was a cat who was dedicated to staying warm, obviously.
metal mouse, well done to you on weight maintenance – that’s hard! You’re a true inspiration.
nettie, Ollie barks at all the dogs on the tee vee. If I put him down to get a closer look, he runs into the other room to get “behind” them. His bewilderment at finding nothing there never fails to amuse, and he never figures out there are no dogs there.
sensei, I hope SenBoy heals up quickly.
Van Go, we’ll have to trade information on sturdy chew toys. I buy new Kongs for Ollie about every 2 months. The super strong black ones. Body of a dachshund, mouth of a Doberman.
nellie! So nice to see you! Glad you got out of jury duty and are free for the foreseeable future. Also, wonderful news about the departed neighbor! And third time’s the charm, terrific news about your eyes! I think you’re on a roll, and I’ll hope back issues are met with equally good news.
boo fae, best wishes getting 'im indoors to catch up on his Honey Do list. I’ll bet he will. Hope this was a non-stressful day for you. You do seem to have this work/life balance thing aced, that’s sure.
sticky, I hope you warmed up today!
swampy, I want your dinner from last night. Mine is just a cup of Minestrone soup, thawed from some I made a few weeks ago. And a few crackers. The ice cream from the cow colleges sounds wonderful. Where I live, we have a local dairy that supplies very superior products to its own little chain of convenience stores (limited to our area). I do like their ice cream. It’s worth making the extra stop. Also for their milk, which is so fresh it lasts for a month without curdling. Local dairies are a disappearing pleasure, I fear.
FCM, Ollie is always, always crated when I leave home. I try not to leave him for more than 4-5 hours, but the potential for destruction when left to his own devices is 100%. Sounds like Otis is cut from the same cloth. My last little boy was so, so good – I would leave him on the sofa and he wouldn’t budge. I always left him a couple of toys, but he was content to just snooze until I got home, usually. So Ollie is a big change from what I’m used to. Otis is obviously not Higgs, either. Glad he’s learning his boundaries with Ziva, at least.
knots, Ollie is under 3 years old. He’s already destroyed at least ten “indestructible” Kong toys. Your dog sounds normal!
red, the mint chocolate chip ice cream where I am is always peppermint flavored. Spearmint just sounds so wrong! Peanut butter pie sounds pretty good, though.
coppertone, hope the grocery shopping went well.
Maus, Ollie loves his crate, fortunately. It’s his safe space and at bed time (9:30 p.m. sharp, and he is sure to let me know!), he will crate himself. I hope Chloé acclimates in a similar way. Your advent calendars sound fun.
taters, please stay extra safe with this nutty weather we’re having here in the PNW! The storm that’s hitting you tonight is headed for my neck of the woods on Thursday. I worry less about the rain and more about the wind. Ready for extended power outages and hope that’s the least of it. And it’s so thoughtful of you to bring holiday goodies to your former office mates.
cookie, glad the running water mystery is resolved. However that happened.
Sometimes best to not inquire too closely.
lily, enjoy the pfeffernüsse. Yum! You and your lovely wife stay safe, too, please!
JtC, I hope you get distracted again by a shiny needlepoint project. I love hearing about and seeing your stitching projects!
I wonder, what would be an ice cream clone?
A very mellow day at home today. I slept in, accidentally missed a nail appointment for Ollie and had to reschedule for tomorrow morning. Weather continues too warm and wet – but as mentioned, I’m getting taters’s super stormy weather on Thursday. I’m as ready as I can be and will keep fingers crossed that a tree doesn’t fall over on the house.
Tweaked back is fine today, only a little tender. < whew >
It’s a quiet week with clients as they are preoccupied with the holidays. It will get busier again soon, so I’ll enjoy this respite.
In addition to all of Ollie’s other issues, he suffers from defective anal glands. (Thankfully, he’s not a butt scooter, but it’s obvious when things are amiss.) I’m game to handle lots of Google Veterinarian tasks, but not this one. I worry I could hurt him. Consequently, Ollie gets his butt professionally looked after about once a month.
I asked, and the vet said more fiber in his diet would help. So for a few months I’ve added pumpkin puree and chopped green beans to his regular food. It helped some, but he was still suffering. Over the last week, I’ve added a teaspoon of psyllium husk to each meal. Magical! He’s no longer worrying at his hind end at all. If I can get his professional visits down to even half, I’ll consider it a win for us all. If it solves it completely, I’ll be overjoyed!
This is your TMI portion of MMP reports for this evening. 'Night, all.
