(Old) Meticulously Monday the MMP!

It’s Monday! There was no MMP. So…. Ta-da!

What things are you meticulous about?

Moi? Well, removing offensive vegetables from my plate. Onions? Gotta go! Um, what else? Blogging or most any type of writing. (Ok, except the MMP.). I may reread and rewrite what I am working on over and over for hours just to make sure that it conveys what I’m trying to say.

Ok, hijack away!

My house, apparently. When we almost sold it earlier this year, the realtor’s sales description of it included the phrase “meticulously maintained,” which was probably code for “the furniture is all really old, but at least it’s clean.”

And here I was about to start us off, but I couldn’t come up with a title or topic. Yeah, like the topic matters…

This past weekend was enlightening regarding MIL’s care. It turns out the hallucinations were due to a medication. They sent her 2 different ones to help her sleep, if necessary. As it happens, some people do better on one than on the other, and that was the case with her. The one FCD gave her messed with her brain, and it took fresh eyes (one of the duty nurses) to pick up on that. He stopped giving it to her and yesterday, she was functioning more or less normally for her. There was still confusion, probably due to her losing a day and a half to the hallucinations, but she actually asked for food and held conversations.

That’s not to say she’s OK - she’s still a very frail 93-y/o somewhat stubborn woman with a bad heart (physically, not emotionally) but she’s no longer talking to dead relatives or holding imaginary phone conversations. And she still thinks she can go back to Indiana to visit her sister… but that’s another story. Anyway, it’s good to have the mystery solved.

OK, time to unveil my grandfather’s onion lecture: Onions are good for you! You never see a worm in an onion! That’s why you never said “I don’t want onions” around him.

As to meticulous, I used to be moreso, but these days, I’m more inclined to go with good enough. Altho there is a specific way the dishwasher needs to be loaded. And clothing needs to be folded the correct way so it fits in the appropriate drawers. And showers go from top down - shampoo first, feet last. Other things I don’t think qualify as meticulous so much as trying to maintain a certain level of order and tidiness.

The hospital bed is being delivered today. SIL is coming over after he gets the kids to school to help us move the queen bed to the basement. I need to do a load of laundry including the new nightgowns and underwear I got for MIL. I should probably rollsuck, and the dishwasher needs to be emptied. And I’m thinking chickie-veggie soup for supper. Everything else today will be a crapshoot.

Happy Moanday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90 and N.O.S. I may accomplish mowage today. Or not. We shall see if I can muster the motivation to do so. Other than that ‘twill be the usual RDOS inactivities. Sup shall be cubed steak ‘n onion gravy, green beans, smashed N.O.T., and rolls due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’.

I am not really all that meticulous about stuff anymore. Some things do go in certan places and all that, but I don’t really worry if da cave gets a little messy and so forth like I did in the past.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Up to have a completely empty schedule.
Meticulous?
I do dishes the minute I’m done with them.

What I get picky about depends on mood and energy.

No real plans for the day besides cat wrangling and a probable supply run.

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday was 5 weeks since my little trip-and-fall-and ER-visit. The scabs are mostly off my shin, but it still looks like a nasty bruise. No real pain, just ugly. I try to be very mindful of it, lest I whack it against something.

MIL’s bed is stripped. SIL will be here shortly to move the bed downstairs, after which I’ll rollsuck the room. Not sure when the hospital bed will be delivered. That’s today’s big excitement.

Oh, and some laundry, which is washing right now.

I am meticulous about nothing. Never have been, never will. My mom and sister got all the meticulous-ness.

Hot hot hot here in no. Illinois. Heat index near 100 today and tomorrow. I’m staying inside. The heat is not good for my COPD.

… besides having a bunch of Mumpers and Dopers wishing you a HIPPO BURP DAY!!!

What time should we all show up? :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy birthday seanette!

There are a few things that I’m meticulous about, one of the traits that made me a good auditor careerwise.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, the PCP called (made an appointment for Friday to check the toe out), fixing to call H&R Block with a question and then KP. Other than that, most of the day will be spent in sloth.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning.

It’s 53F and clear outside. It’ll be cloudy and 80F by this afternoon.

Happy Birthday, Seanette!

FCM, I’m glad there has been some improvement with MiL, and the nurse figured out the med problem.

For some reason, I am meticulous about my glass stovetop. I use Ceramabryte on it pretty much daily (my husband is a messy cook). When the repairman came, he couldn’t believe it still looked so nice. I am also meticulous about certain things at work, some because they require it, others because it’s just tidier and clearer that way. I also abhor all caps for file folders in our shared drives and SharePoint sites. It’s just stressful to look at. Other things, I’m meticulous about as the mood strikes me.

I had a pretty rough night last night. I’m just not feeling well, and the lack of sleep isn’t helping. I was going to take the whole day off, but the MPA is out AGAIN, so I’m going to take an hour or two to myself this morning and then log in for work. Usually, I’d be at the office today, but since I’m going in on Wednesday, that can count as my in-office day.

Alrighty, I need some more water and coffee.

Keeping track of our finances and, after many credit card scams, keeping an eagle eye on the charges thereon. Other than that, just keeping bacon in the fridge.

Not a whole lot happening this week other than badgering my daughter to get in touch with a tax person to help her clean up her mess (another thread). Also have to pick up the necessaries to make carne adovada for some folks coming over on the weekend.

Speaking of my daughter, I gave her all the leftover cat food and a feeding dish when she visited this past weekend. Another bit of closure, I guess.

Puzzled, wordled, fed and abluted. Off to exercise in a few. Cheers, all.

Happy burp-day, Seanette!

Back to the doc today to see if they can do anything for my feets.

Only thing I’m really meticulous about is my keys. They are in one of 4 places…the ignition, my hands, on my belt loop, or hanging on a hook by the door. I’m also a bit particular about my tools.

Y’all have a great week!

Meticulous? Well, no, a bit ‘set in my ways’ old guy, but the house is a solid “B” in cleaniness and things get done when they impact on my life instead of any major schedule. About as close as I come is every morning when I get up I turn on the computer and first thing I do is play several games of spider solitare, just to get the brain cells working. Oh, and the glasses/drinking utensils need to go in their correct places and I rotate them when the dishwasher is unloaded.

78F heading to 92F so August is going out as hot as it started. Doing the usual 5-S’s today and we’ll see if anything else catches my attention.

Seanette, a most Hippo-Birdie two ewe!

FCM, glad they were able to figure out the medicine that was causing the problem; that happens more often than you may think. Hope the hospital bed helps.

Taters, I also use Cermabryte, but usually once a week, since I don’t cook nearly as often as you do. Take care of yourself.

wet one, good luck on the feets.

And onward into the new week. Have a good one all.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 20c/68f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s probably a fucking good day to stay the fuck in bed. Today will probably fucking suck.” I disagree, Weather app!

Happy birthday, Seanette :birthday: :champagne: :gift:

Moooom I’m glad to hear that the nurse solved the riddle of the hallucinations. Good luck with the furniture moves for the new bed.

VanGo I hope the doc can help you get your feets back to rights.

shoe I’m glad to hear you’ve made up with GC and things are working out for you both.

Coppertone don’t. Just don’t, 'kay?

Onto the MMP! The only thing I am meticulous about would be keeping my accounts up to date. Thus today I am peeved that my credit card shows me a balance amount but I’m unable to pay off more than a third of it because a major charge hasn’t cleared yet. Oh well, I’ll check that again on Wednesday as it should be payable by then and that’s also the day I have to pay my road tax.

There are other things that I do in certain ways, dishwashing is always cups/glasses first before pans, cutlery and plates. Laundry get hung up in a particular way, 'im indoors sometimes does laundry and it looks like he’s tipped the contents of the washer over the clotheshorse and things land where they will!

The weekend was very busy but lots of fun - after Saturday’s running around and partying, I was up fairly early on Sunday too. Put some colour on my hair, got that washed out and dried, then had some lunch, packed a change of clothes and we hit the road in the early afternoon. I had to get some petrol then we headed up the M6 towards Manchester to a music festival. We arrived at our accommodation and got checked in, then went to dump stuff in our room and get changed for the event.

I had a message from a friend to say she and her roomie had arrived, and she was taking her car to the venue so we got a ride with them. Just as we were checking in, another festival friend arrived so there were hugs all round before we’d even made it to our room.

The event was fun, we saw lots of friends, enjoyed the bands, bought some CDs and eventually got a cab back to the hotel. We left around 11am, and drove into the town for late breakfast at a café we’d been before. I logged it on farcebook, and a couple of friends showed up as well so we had breakfast together and made a plan for the next time we’re seeing each other.

Now we’re back home and I’m drinking tea instead of beer  I remembered to take some meat out of the freezer before we left yesterday so that will become chilli for dinner tonight. The cats seem to have negotiated the automated feeders so that was useful, I wasn’t sure they would get on with them too well but they seem to have done ok. They weren’t short of other food but Shadow tends to prefer wet food as he’s got a tooth that the vet described as “not loving life”.
Today is our late summer bank holiday so no work today for me. That also means I get Tuesday and Wednesday working at home and only two days on campus this week. Bonus!

Happy Birthday, nettie!

I hope your fuzzbutts are good to you today!

As a professional cheese maker, I am meticulous about safe food handling and sanitation. If I miss something, I won’t know for months. I have cried over a ruined year old cheese in the past, don’t want to do it again.

I’m pretty picky about my needlework too.

Fingers crossed.

I’ve read that being over-medicated causes many problems as one ages. I’m glad they caught it for MIL.

Ours was also “meticulously maintained” and had no furniture so maybe that’s just the standard way realtors say “they take care of their stuff”.

So we have a king sized bed. There used to be plenty of room for two oversized humans and one oversized cat. One would think that adding a little tiny cat to the mix wouldn’t be an issue. One would be wrong. We used to be able to move GG off the blankets but now that Jolene is sleeping on him, he doesn’t move.

This morning several hummers have been at the feeder. When they arrive at the same time and do battle over it, Jolene loses her mind. She just knows that if I opened the door she could catch them all!

Mental image of Hummers fighting it out while Jolene watches…

Daughter’s whole crew invited themselves for supper. I’ll make mac-n-cheese, chickie nuggies, and warm up various leftovers. It’ll be a random meal.

Nurse has been and gone. Waiting for the shower aide and the bed delivery. It got warm enough that I had to close the house and turn on the air. Dammit.

Happy birthday, Seanette! :birthday: :tada:

I’m naturally an organized and generally neat/tidy person, but I don’t know that I’d say I’m meticulous about anything. Well, maybe my inboxes? I use all three of them – 1 personal and 2 work – as “to do” lists, so they each often contain just a handful of messages. If I get really busy at work for several days, or if I go on vacation and don’t access Gmail regularly, I’ll eventually get to a point where I have to stop whatever I’m doing and clear out my inbox(es). Having too many messages will distract/bother me. (And my messages are always read. )

I’m at the office today, in the corporate proposal center – with all of one other person (at the moment) – and it’s been a quiet morning both literally and figuratively. The 3-hour, in-person meeting that I’m here for doesn’t start until 12:30, and I’m hoping the next ~90 minutes remain uneventful. :crossed_fingers: Whenever I finish this post, I’ll head to the little coffee/convenience shop on the ground floor and grab some lunch. The other person in the space here so far isn’t part of the proposal I’m supporting: I better not still be alone at 12:30!

Yesterday I did wind up skipping the jam session, but late afternoon I got the “oomph” to meet up with my friends for the early jazz show at a nearby bar/restaurant. None of us had been there before, and happily the place was great! Small-ish, with just enough of a dive bar feel to be comfortable but not skeevy. Everything about the place was slightly worn but it was clean (even the bathroom), the food was decent, and the stage was really nice: elevated, spacious, and front-and-center. They have live music there every night, and it was nice to see a place take that seriously. The sound was good, and the jazz trumpeter and his band were terrific. And while the room was far from packed, there was more of an audience than I would have expected for live jazz on a Sunday at 4pm. It was a 15-minute drive from home, and only 5 minutes for my friends: we all agreed that we’d definitely be willing to go back sometime. It felt like the kind of place where I would have been a regular in my 30s…ahhh, those were the days.

The rest of this week won’t be boring: tomorrow I have a midday tattoo removal session and an evening personal training appointment, Thursday afternoon I have a virtual voice lesson and that evening I have a ticket to a jazz show in DC, and Wed-Fri one of my direct reports will be on vacation so all of his tasks will fall to me. I’m hoping that a lot of folks will start the Labor Day weekend/holiday early. :crossed_fingers:

I hope you like it!

And I would totally go on a Louise Penny tour of Quebec!!

Then so am I.

Thanks…but those are made by the lovely and talented missred.
