High school #1: Bears (in green & white. What kind of color is that for a bear?)
High school #2: Bruins
High school #3: Scottish Rebels (What Scottish Rebels are doing five miles west of New Orleans, I have no idea. The band members all wear kilts; they must be cold when marching in Mardi Gras parades!)
High School: Rebels
(we had a mascot, but it was our school’s namesake, Texas Ranger Capt. Jack Hays…who reamined neutral and in California throughout the war; of course, we waved GREAT BIG Rebel flags as well)
College: Longhorns
It seems that neither my high school nor my college could figure out what the hell to pick for a mascot so they just came up with the most non-mascot type things they could think of.
River High School: We were the River Pilots. Not too bad until you get to the actual mascot. For some reason, it was decided that a pilot was too boring and a rat would be better. A RAT! What the hell were they thinking?
College didn’t get any better. I don’t know whether to attribute the mascot choice to heavy drug usage or the fact that I went to a community college but we were The Thundering Chickens …fear us. :smack:
Elementary School: The Pink Panthers (school colors: red, white, and blue)
Junior High: The Panthers (colors: black and gold)
Junior High #2 (we moved): The Falcons (colors: black and gold)
High School: The Giants (colors: purple and white)
College: The Cardinals (colors: red and tan). Keep in mind that I went to Otterbein college. And our mascot was the cardinal. Somebody just wasn’t thinking that day …
College #2 (attended one class!): The Jaguars (I have no idea what the colors are)
Michigan State University - Spartans
Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts - Clue Bus Passengers (get onboard)
Ever hear of the Tulane Green Wave? My university’s mascot.
My high school is so cliched. It’s called Lincoln, our mascot is a tiger, and our colors are blue and gold. Boring.
The college that I want to go to has an elephant as their mascot, but, because it’s a technology school, the team name is “The Fightin’ Engineers.” How awesome is that?
My little brother went to high school in Atlanta, TX…they were the Fighting Rabbits
For me:
White Oak High School Vikings
NC State Wolfpack
Elementary School: Braves
Middle School: Eagles
High School #1: Mustangs
High School #2: Griffins
University #1: Pirates
University #2: Kangaroos
Yes, I have…don’t know how they slipped my mind.
What is a green wave, anyway?
High School - Panthers (purple & white). While that might sound boring, it has a history:
In the early days of Ft. Worth, a panther was found sleeping in the main street of town one morning. Dallas mocked FW, saying that the town was so boring it even put panthers to sleep. FW turned that around and declared themselves “Panther City”. Paschal, as the first high school in FW took the panthers as their mascot from this.
College - Lumberjack (also purple & white). Chosen because SFA was the only school in Texas with a forestry degree (IIRC - I do know that the forestry school was the only school offering a doctorate) Women’s teams were called Ladyjacks.
You would think they’d be called Lumberjills, but whaddoIknow.
Nah, Kilts aren’t that bad (as stated above, I went to Sotland High School where we were the Fighting Scots).
I was in band.
I wore the Kilt.
WINTERWEIGHT WOOL. In North Carolina. IN THE SUMMER!!!
HS: Pirates
College: Buckeyes. It’s a seed.
Ruskin Elementary: Braves (then: red & white, now: blue & white)
Eishenhower Jr. High: when I went there, the Allies, now they are the Generals. The colors are still red, white, & blue
East Bay High School: The Indians. Colors are red, gray, & white
Florida Southern College (Bachelor’s): The Moccasins (it’s a Methodist school, for crying out loud!). Colors are red, white, and light blue.
Webster University (Master’s): The Gorlocks (I have no idea what that is). Colors are blue and gold, I think.
I teach at: Dowdell Middle School. We are the Dolphins, and our colors are blue and white. My team is the Wolves, and our colors are gray and black.
Seriously? I thought everyone knew what gorlocks are.
My high school colors were blue and white, hence the mascot, The Blue Jacket. Kinda like Georgia Tech’s Yellow Jackets, 'cept blue.
Maybe he was cold?
High School- Mustangs. (I went to school on an island off Florida. There are no horses for miles around)
College- Golden Knights (again, in Florida- no Knights, golden or otherwise, have been seen here- except at Medieval Times during the entire span of human history)
My elementary school was the mighty Oaks (as in trees!! ) and my high school was the Cowboys.
There is a high school in Topeka, Kansas called Seaman Sr. High School.
Seaman High. Their mascot? The Trojans.
So, they are the Seaman Trojans.
Whoa! In looking for a website, it seems they have changed their mascot! They’re the Vikings, now. Awww… I’m gonna miss them Trojans.
