What's your opinion on "Darling Lili", an old American movie?

I am not prone to argue.

In Russia, pornographs have you!

Well, they certainly might feature you, with their support of hackers and invasion of privacy, and unauthorized use of your images, etc.

This exchange made me buy the book again, to check my memory. I’ve been re-reading it, and it is as good as I remember it.

First - it’s true that many, including Marx, thought that the revolution would start in England, precisely because the industrialisation started there. He was constantly exasperated though; any time something seemed to stir ‘the proletariat’ in continental Europe, the workers in England shrugged and moved on. Marx realised, fairly early, that the English working man was more interested in making money than in a revolution.

Now, for my claim. My memory was not exact, but close enough.
Marx wrote, in a letter (1 September 1970) to Friedrich Adolph Sorger, organiser of the the American International the following:

I would check that date.

Anyway, there’s nothing surprising that Marx would predict an eventual social revolution in Russia - he predicted that a social revolution would eventually occur everywhere.

Why? It’s clearly referenced in the book. Do you want me to take a pic and post it here?

Also, from context of the book, it’s not as easy as you sweepingly dismiss. If you want to do that, fine. Having read the book, I wouldn’t.

We’re talking about Karl Marx (1814-1881) here, right? Because if your were referring to, say, Groucho Marx (1890-1977), then I apologize.

Cafe Thread was bumped after 3 months for more on a political hijack. I’ll close this one.
