What's Your Space IQ?

9/10 Drat. Those durn binary systems…

Thought I remembered them saying they were too gravitationally unstable to keep & form planets…

10/10 I finally won someting.

There is some question that the Apollo astronauts may have contaminated the surveyor arm.

9/10 missed #2 about the bacteria :smack:

8/10, missed #2 and #7.

8/10, I feel so dumb. :frowning:

I got #2 and #7 wrong, just like dwc1970.

I thought that ion engines were just experimental and not actually used. I guess I’m an idiot.

But I knew the teleportation one. I had a good physics teacher in high school who actually did a little bit of quantum physics, and mentioned to us how some scientists “teleported” photons.

10/10 Where were the difficult questions?

8/10

I got

6 wrong for the same reason as Small Clanger and 9.

9/10. Like trupa, I thought I remembered reading that none of the known binary systems was organized in such a way that it would permit any sort of stable planetary orbit.

10/10!

Will they let me on the Shuttle now?

7/10, damn it all to hell.

Planets can exist in binary stars? And while I knew ion engines existed, I didn’t know we were actually using them.

I won’t mention the third one I got wrong. Let’s just say I was naive and let my enthusiasm cloud my judgement.

JPL’s website for Deep Space 1, which was the vehicle to very successfully use the ion engine. Neat stuff.

10/10.

I would like to thank the academy and…what’s that? Oh, ok.

::goes to the back of the line consisting of people who scored perfect to wait for my turn::

10/10

The myths & hoaxes page from that site is interesting. Never knew meteorites could be cold when they hit the ground.

6 / 10.
And I work at NASA too.

Heh, I kid, I kid. I could see everyone choking on their lunch.
And, hey! We can teleport?

Very cool; thanks.

I’m not the lowest anymore. Thank you too.

Eight of them I knew for certain. Of the other two I guessed one correctly.

9/10

I didn’t know we were actually using ion propulsion systems.

I aced it too.

All those years of geeking out on astronomy magazines as a kid finally pays off

10/10
But I guessed on the teleporter question (an educated guess, but still…), and I wasn’t 100% sure about Jupiter’s having rings.

9/10; missed # 10. I thought that was gravitationally impossible!
