What's your wallpaper?

I tend to get a lot of wallpapers at these sites:

http://www.hebus.com - great archive of every type.

http://www.digitalblasphemy.com - even the non-member area is good

http://www.cognitivedistortion.com - more good 3D CG wallpaper.

I have about 300MB worth of wallpapers. And I use them all.

This panel from the “In the Arms of an Angel” sequence from Aoi Hayashi’s webmanga Your Wings are Mine.

I have a picture of Ruri from the anime Nadesico that I found on this page- http://www.ruri-chan.net/ . Its the ruri_wp_26.jpg image under the pics-wallpaper area.

I have a picture of the Three Sisters mountains in Canmore Canada with a beautiful sunset in the background, and a a large spider shadow decending to prey upon them. It is so cool.

At work it’s either the Hardy Boyz or Rob Van Dam doing the Van Daminator, depending on my mood.

A picture of one of Pikes Peak’s lakes/reservoirs, with the Peak in the background, in early fall (for Colorado Springs, anyway).

Mine comes from this page (click More Pictures at the bottom, the top left image on the next page) is a night-time picture of a bridge very near my home. Unfortunately, I don’t live ON the river shore, so I can’t see this IRL, but this pic was taken very close to where I live. It is the Dame Point Bridge* over the St. Johns River in Jacksonville. At one time (may still be?) it was the longest cable-stayed bridge (main pier to main pier) in America.

*[sub]Formally, it is the Napoleon Bonaparte Broward Bridge - he was an early governor, and has family in the area, but no one but the Browards calls it that, using the geographic name.[/sub]

I’ve got Rocky and Bullwinkle. And it comes with cool sounds and stuff, too.

I have the David Silveria Calvin Klein ad up. Mmm…David :Dhttp://www.celebpecs.com/images/David_Silveria/david_07.jpg

It’s a work by Andy Goldsworthy:

Iris Blades and Rowan Berries

I’m currently using a shot of Ayanami Rei and Pen Pen from Evangelion. Doesn’t matter much, as I rarely see my desktop, but I thought I’d share.

Plain gray. :frowning: If I put any image up on the desktop, the video card won’t handle it and slows down the system.

I have two, one is my son skiing barefoot, the other is the same son doing a 360 with air on a kneeboard.

Abby

At work: a picture my parents just sent down from Alaska of my mother sitting on a shore with an iceberg and some mountians in the background. Before that is was the satellite shot of the Earth at night.

Laptop: a picture from the FDR monument in DC that reads:

Before that it was alternating shots of me on the slopes, scuba diving or at the Richard Petty School of Racing.

Considering how crash-happy my PC is, I thought it was appropriate that I set HAL’s glowing “eye” from 2001 as my wallpaper! Also, whenever the system gets an error, instead of the default Windoze sound, I have HAL saying, “I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.” When I shut 'er down, ya hear HAL singing “Daisy”!

Right now I have a picture of Daniel Brocklebank as Young Merlin in NBC’s “Merlin” movie, because if they ever make my book a movie, I want him to play the main character.

Before that my wallpaper was Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bey in “The Mummy Returns” (he’s the guy with the blue tattoos on his face).

I like to make my own wallpapers. For a long time I had a collage of pics of Rick Savage (Def Leppard’s bassist Rick Savage, aka Sav, not the porn guy).

This: the “lights” photo that caused all the squawking about light pollution when it was posted here.

For two weeks or so I had this, but I planned all along to take it down when I started to not “see” it anymore. Now I have the magazine incarnation of it on the bookcase near the computer.

Home: Standard Windows circles wallpaper. It’s so slow, I don’t want to put fancy wallpaper on it.

Work: http://www.4president.org/carterwallpaper/cartermondale1976wallpaper1024.htm (A replica of a Carter/Mondale campaign poster.)

I have the one called “sandstone” that comes with Windows, because I’ve never bothered to change it. Actually, I’m using my parents’ computer right now, so I should probably let them decide.
