Whedon idolatry is scaring me

I went to a party where the guest were forced to watch The Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Now that’s scary.

I liked Buffy and Angel, but never had any interest in Firefly until they started rerunning it on Sci Fi. But only because it’s on a night with little else of interest. Now, I like it quite a bit. But I don’t intend to see Serenity until it’s available to rent.

Heh. Adam Carolla figured this one out: if the only way you can explain someone’s personality or actions is to repeat his name (“Oh, that’s just Bill being Bill!”), that means he’s an asshole.

Yeah, but that’s just Adam being Adam.

Posting these kind of threads on this board is kind of like posting “aren’t Democrats kind of stupid?” threads. The very fans you’re complaining about are going to be completely defensive and blindly attack you right back.

Joss Whedon is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life

Joss Whedon is the most reliable writer/director ever born. Joss Whedon has never made a mistake or distorted information. He is, by any practical definition of the words, foolproof and incapable of error.

The fool hath said in his heart, Firefly wast not the best gorram science fiction show on television.

Well, anyway, Firefly was really, really, good, and y’all should all buy (or at least borrow)) the DVD’s, and go see Serenity.

I’m surprised that they’re commenting about the dialogue by saying “That’s just Joss being Joss.” I don’t remember anyone saying “That’s just George being George” regarding Jar Jar Binks.

See, the only times I’ve heard anyone say anything like this, they were saying, “How can you complain about the dialogue? That’s one of Joss Whedon’s trademarks!”

It’d sorta be like going to a Rodney Dangerfield show and complaining about him being a moldering corpse. Er, I mean, complaining about him harping on not getting respect. Have you never heard of the man before?

That’s just Rodney being Rodney. He’s not being an asshole: he’s riffing on a riff on which he’s teriffic.
