Wheel of Time Book 11: Jordan redeems himself.

Well, you knew I’d post this.
A Knife of Dreams came out on Tuesday, and my Lady and I, having purchased our separate copies, have both finished it.

Wow.

You know how they say that Revenge of the Sith was a pretty good movie, it just didn’t overcome the mediocrity of its predecessors in the New Trilogy? That was my fear for this book, given the 2 preceding it. But it made good.

Highlights:

Lews Therin vs. 10,000 Trollocs
Loial’s wedding
Aludra’s ‘Dragon Eggs’
Egwene taking down the Tower
Mat back with the Band of the Red Hand
Mat’s ‘wedding’
Rand vs. Semhirage
Narishima among the Rebels (Eben Hopwil! Remember him!)
The Red Ajah in The M’Hael’s sactum

and of course…

The Golden Crane flies again, and the armies of the world march toward Tarmon Gai’din

And yet, no news as to who killed Asmodean! &)$@^!

I got my copy the other day but still haven’t started it…I’m in the middle of two other books atm. I plan on reading it over the weekend with a nice 20 yo bottle of single malt and some fine cigars. As someone who actually didn’t mind the last two book I’m encouraged by what you say…since you obviously didn’t like them.

One question for you and the others who have read the book…do you think Jordan can finish off the series in one more book or does that seem unrealistic? No spoilers if you can help it but I’m just curious as it doesn’t seem to me (granted before I’ve read this one) that the story can be tied up in 2 more books.

Oooh! Oooh! I came here tonight just to see if somebody’d reviewed the book yet! Thank You!

All exclamation points aside, I’d intended to hold out on reading it until I took the GRE. But that’s in December, and if this one’s good, I can’t wait that long. I’ve just invested too much time in this series to let it go completely.

Better start reading the old FAQ - I don’t remember some of the names in the Spoiler tag.

I’ve read up till the end of book 8 and know about the cleansing of the Taint in book 9. Would I miss anything else important if I skipped WH and CoT and started right in on KoD?

THAT’S what Elaine was doing in that bath for so long!!

(Sorry)

Eh. Read the last couple of chapters of Winter’s heart (#9). Find a nice chapter by chapter summary of Crossroads of Twilight, and prepared to be bored as hell by the summaries, even.

Then get going on #11 and hang on.

Gotta get back to the book!

This site: http://www.wotmania.com/chaptersummaries.asp

does a fair chapter by chapter summary.
