When a police car puts their lights on-pull over and stop. Is that a brain buster?

For the love of Og, I cannot fathom why people don’t get it. Stop your damned car and shut your pie hole. Keep your hands in plain view. Have a valid license. Don’t have guns, drugs and other stuff in the car. Don’t have an outstanding arrest warrant for your criminal ass.

Now we’ve got another inductee into the ‘I Fought the Law and the Car Won’ hall of infamy. Of course, family tells the press how he was such a good boy, and never did anything wrong. Sorry folks, when your kid runs from a State Trooper, his buddy bails after apparently tossing a weapon, and your little angel gets spushed after a bail and run goes wrong, I don’t have a tear to shed.

Now the family has rounded up Johnnie Cochran’s law firm, and rumors abound regarding racial profiling. Quit the smoke and mirrors, folks! The decedent made the choice to run. The decedent made the choice to bail from a moving vehicle. The decedent made a series of bad choices and it doesn’t matter that he’s black, white, or paisley.

Why is “obey the law” such a difficult concept?

It’s not that it’s a difficult concept. It’s just that so many folks have to get past “Don’t be stupid” first.

Just read the article.

Two words: Darwin Award.

Lawsuit is probably a lost cause. I don’t think cops can be held legally accountable for some moron jumping out of the car right in front of them during a chase. At least I hope not.

Genius. Talk about job security for yours truly. Genius.

Not making any excuses for the subject of the OP, but there’s a damn good reason for someone not to stop just because somebody’s flashing blue lights.

Woman sexually assaulted by man posing as police officer

Plus, wasn’t York where some cop killed a black guy and the rest of them covered it up for years, and the cop got elected mayor, even?

I would never recommend running from the cops as a rule; but there are clearly times when they aren’t exactly the good guys.

Plus, some jurisdictions have stopped doing high-speed chases except in the most dire of circumstances, because they tend to end up tragically. Guess York didn’t get the memo…

I have a gun in my car right now.

Me too!

Criminal dead at his own doing. (OOPS! Alledged criminal!!!)

Quick justice.

Well, if the family decides not to watch the tape right now, they’ll probably be able to catch it on World’s Wildest Police Videos in a year or so.

Mea culpa. My reference to having a gun in your vehicle presumed it was either stolen, or you lacked the requisite permit to carry same. These details are observed by the lawful gun toters, but not so with the remainder of the populace.

To An Arky: Charlie Robertson was a police officer who later became Mayor. He was charged in the murder of Lillie Bell Allen, a black female, but was acquitted. Robert Messersmith, a private citizen, was convicted along with others of second degree murder and related charges.

Regarding ‘high speed’ chases, almost all municipalities in PA have adopted policies to address this issue. In the OP, the authority involved is the State Police, so this isn’t a case of York City or Spring Garden Township failing to do something.

Also, PA State Police cars do not have lights that are solely blue. The marked units have lights that are red, white and blue, and the unmarked units have lights that are red.

The red, white and blue lights should be staggered, not red on one side, blue on the other, white in the middle. Those officers who have unmarked cars are generally very understanding of the desire to pull over in a well lit, populated area because of the impersonations that have happened.
