I wouldn’t want to see avatars, banners, or animated smilies here either. If they were put into place, the moderators would definitely need the no-warning permanent insta-ban powers.

Avatars and Banners on the SDMB are a “New Coke”-ish level bad idea.
Although I wouldn’t mind getting the color back to the smilies, as the all monochromatic thing is kind of weird.
Oh, and getting signatures turned off as the default.

Yeah, the gray and white is bland and depressing. Let’s add avatars and banners and six-inch animated sigs, and to combat the depressing gray and white, let’s make the background black and the type hot pink or red. That’ll make it colorful, and fun to read at the same time! :rolleyes:
Actually both one avatar and one banner are allowed. Take your pick, neither username is in use.
