You know if they would feed the gerbils every once in a while this sort of thing might not happen. Hmm let’s try this again.
Ok, a couple weeks ago a tragic hair coloring incident left me with about 8-10 inches less hair than I started with.Submitted for your amusement a pictorial display of what happens when URL=http://www.geocities.com/cindismojo/badhairworseprops.html]Bad Hair, Worse Props. ]Bad Hair happens to good people.
I have prematurely gray hair starting from the age of 16, (gee thanks dad). I used to dye it’s natural color gradually lightening as the gray slowly took over. I am prob now 75% gray with only a little dark hair left in the back.
A couple of month’s ago Idecided I would get it highlighted and just let the gray grow using semi permanent coloring in the meantime. My hair was several different colors so I decided to re-blonde it. Well you guessed it, my highlighted hairs turned to a sort of green gray spongey mass that broke off in my hands.
After a good cry I went in for a good trim. My goal was to leave it chin length but even that was possible so I ended up with super short hair. I have done much crying and agonizing over it. I finally decided to take a few pics and let others share in my experience.
So what’s the worst thing you ever did to your hair?
I know you’re not going to want to hear this, Mermaid, but I absolutely love your hair in that style, and that short! It is extremely flattering. [sub][sup]Seriously thinking about being a copycat…[/sub][/sup]
I hate you had to have it happen the way you did, for sure. God, I can only imagine the heart-stopping horror you had as it fluttered between your fingertips, one chunk at a time. I probably would have dove off the roof.
In fact, it’s a miracle that what you describe happening to you, hasn’t happened to me. I color my hair just as much, if not more so, and probably much more often.
But the bottom line is, you DO look great with that cut, and sometimes things do turn out for the best. Just lay off the coloring for a little while this time! Gray or not!
I agree with Silky, I think you look Fab! It must have been a shock to you to end up with much shorter hair, but you look great in those pics.
I’ve never dyed my own hair, I rely on my hairstylist to ‘weave’ my hair for me every couple of months to cover the grey.
The worst thing I ever tried with my hair was a ‘natural perm’ back in the 70’s. I told the stylist I wanted natural waves to keep my hair from being too flat, and he turned my 30" locks into a blonde Afro! That was a bad day, I must say. When my children first saw me after that mutilation from the stylist, they burst into giggles. And I burst into tears.
I feel your pain, even though I think you look beautiful with your new 'do.
I have to say it looks lovely – I had my hair cut in the same style three weeks ago, and love it!
As far as worst I’ve ever done… my freshman year of college, I got a box of dye. I was going for a strawberry blonde, but ended up with something more like “New Penny” and “Autumn Leaf Yellow.”
I was sitting in my living room trying to convince myself it wasn’t bad, when my friends let themselves in the front door. They both stopped dead in their tracks and could say nothing but “Oh. My. God.” Luckily it faded to a more muted color after a week or so.
Wow, that same exact hair cut happened to me a month ago.
Short back. Wierd long stuff in front that never hangs right. Even the brittleness and grey-green-ness! My hair was bright blue, and I tried to bleach it out (a technique that usually works for red-based colors). It didn’t work. It just turned really icky green. I had to leave the bleach on for ages, so my hair turned the texture of straw. Then, I tried to cut off all the parts that were still green. That just left me with an uneven haircut. I asked a friend to fix it and they gave me the same haircut you have.
Luckly mine faded after washing it something like fifty times, and my hair grows pretty fast so it turned into something a little better looking (I always have short hair, but the haircut I had was just too severe).
Strangely, during that period of time I got more compliments on my hair than I ever have.
