When come back, bringing Pie (kitty pics inside)

A small slice of Pie updates:

-She’s adjusting to her new home VERY well. She lives in my room, but has been exploring the upper hallway, and has apparently been venturing downstairs when no one’s around. She still runs most of the time when people walk, but when you’re sitting down she can be easily lured back out.

-My God she has the cutest squeaky chirp! Objectively cutest.

-She let me cut her nails! She didn’t run away or anything, she just got up when she had enough, and let me go in for a second round without a fuss. Which is good; she’s pretty good with not scratching me even during play, but she goes all out for the Bed Lump Monsters. And when she’s jumping after a toy, she sometimes lands on me daggers-out.

-Not biting during play is going to take a little work. Especially since she’s teething. (I put her tooth under her pillow, but the Cat Fairy was a no-show).

-Have I mentioned she’s cute?

-Still having persistent gastro problems. Me and J are working on it.

-I don’t have any pictures, but last week she climbed up my window screen. She was just clinging there, like in a cartoon.

-I’ve got some slightly better-quality pictures (and a mediocre video) this time, and with working links. Go me! 1 2 3 4 5

A big thumbs up from me on all counts: for the cat, for the cat’s petter, for the pictures and for the video.

She’s adorable! Congrats, especially on being able to clip her nails. I have a similarly marked cow cat and he has grown to be a love bug over the years, the big mush.

Oh, yeah, she likes the scritches! What a sweet girl. I’m glad she’s settling in!

Oh she’s a beauty!!

And the neuter/release cats in my area all get their right ear cropped, regardless of gender. I agree they need to standardize.

Loves me some kitties. Good on you, OP.
Little side story… few years ago on Memorial Day, wife and I were heading out shopping, but first stopped at the gas station to fuel up. Wife’s seated in the car, and I’m at the pump, when another car comes flying into the lot and slams on the brakes. Old man, maybe 80ish, hops out the car all excited saying something like “I saved the cat, I saved the cat.”. I told him to try to calm down, what’s going on?

Still excitedly, “I saved the cat. I need help.” Take it easy fella, what’s wrong? He brings me to the passenger side of his car where his wife is sitting, holding a cat so tiny, I swear it looked like a mouse. (Vet eventually estimated her to be about ~7 weeks.)

Guy calms down some and explains to me that some sub-human asshole threw the cat out the window, while driving down the highway running past the gas station. The old guy was driving behind him, at a distance, saw the cat get jettisoned, and actually stopped traffic to pick up the cat. Quick reacting and brave old fella… this country sure doesn’t breed 'em like we used to.

The cat’s leg is clearly broken, like in half, dangling. The older folks, while heroes for rescuing the cat from certain death, had no idea what to do with the cat. Boy, did they cross paths with the right guy. As a weapons-grade cat lover, I said “Gimme the cat, I’ll take it.” They were relieved, and so was I.

$2,000 in surgery, and several pins and rods later, I’m thrilled to report the cat’s leg is now healed, and miss Abby, as we’ve named her, has hit the life lottery and lives a pampered existence with the wife and me and her 4 fur brothers and sisters. She’s treated to the finest diet, accommodations, toys and health care money can buy, and she’s happy as a clam.

I’d give a month’s salary for 5 minutes alone with whoever threw her out of a moving car, but unfortunately I’ll never have that satisfaction.

Sleeping, couple days post op.

Seen here with her adoptive mommy, Zoe.

You’re good people, Stuntman Mike.

I am a thoroughgoing atheist, but on a few occasions I find myself hoping that I’m wrong about this - and that there is a burning Hell that is the eternal residence of the sort of asshole who would throw a kitten (or any animal) out of a car.

actually 3 of our 4 cats were acquired like mikes ……excpt mine was so tiny and was basically blind it was stuck in a roach trap behind his warehouse …

accidently posted and missed the edit :

actually 3 of our 4 cats were acquired like mikes ……except mine was so tiny and was basically blind it was stuck in a roach trap behind his warehouse she was 4 days old …80 plus dollars and 3 months of bottle feeding and eye cleaning she became the perfect little bratty puss

But the vet actually wrote her off as deceased and the office considered it quite the miracle she was alive when we took her in to get fixed she’s 18 years old and well on her way out… but we do what we can for her
same with the twins except they were in a box with their dead siblings who died from "exposure " and then have mental problems one is extremely clingy and the other one until her stroke was named “evil kitty” they think she was schizophrenic … shed be calm one minute and the next just rip what ever body part she could reach … since her possible stroke … she’s just confused and doesn’t mind being touched now ……

Malleus, Incus, Stapes!, your kitty is adorable.

Stuntman Mike, you’re my hero. Thank you for taking care of that baby (who is also adorable).

IMPORTANT CUTE KITTEN UPDATE:

Pie has been Doing a Thing, and I finally got her Doing The Thing on video:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/PwhVQ8kAsnKvjee67

Just watching that video made me dizzy!

That was awesomest

What a great kitten! Our last two were feral adoptees. It took a while for the gastro issues to sort out. They’d been treated for a lot of parasites. I found it helped to feed them a little canned pumpkin.

One always remained more wild–was happier outside and was slapdash about her litterbox use. Her constitution was fairly weak, and she died earlier than house-born, house-raised cats do.

The other has turned into a big old sweet-boy lap cat. Neither of them communicated by meowing at us for a long time. Now the boy has learned and talks to us all day. Neither would ever eat any “human” food. It has to be cat food or live-caught things.

Felt I should advise you - cats that look and behave like Pie tend to become very spoiled. Be very careful!

You have been warned.

Oh she’s such a CUTIE!!!

That’s AWESOME! I love the little dizzy stagger at the end. What a neat kitty!

That is so cute! Go Pie!

Also cute: my brother and I had a Nostalgia Movie Night a couple days ago, and Pie came into the room and watched the whole thing with us.
