I was rereading a book about the ship, and it appears that dead bodies were still found adrift, a month after the sinking. Since a huge amount of floating debris was generated when the ship sank, could some of it have floated around for years before washing up? The area where the ship sank is the middle of the southward-flowing Labrador Current-presumably flotsam would move down the coast of North America, then enter the Gulf Stream-which would push the stuff over to the west coasts of Europe.
I also recall seeing a deck chair from the Titanic-it had washed ashore on Newfoundland-it was picked up by a local fisherman, who used it in his house for years.
So was flotsam/junk still being found years/decades later?
I can’t answer for the Titanic itself, but look up the Indonesia and Japan tsunamis. Things have been washing up on the other side of the world for years following each.
