When the hell did all these immature teenagers decide to hijack the Dope and start threads about sex, testicals, bajinas, sex, etc.? Did a careless member forget to lock up the computer when his/her kids were having a sleep-over? I realize I’m not the most senior member here, but I do remember a time when at least 90% of the SDMB members had some kind of credibility, creativity, or just good questions. Even if it’s mundane and pointless, there was some cool stuff here. But where do you put your penis and testicals when you sleep? I don’t care where you put them. Trolls are popping up here like hedge hogs in that game at Chuck E. Cheese’s, and there is no way to bash their little annoying heads in.
They really are a nuisance, and I find myself not missing this place when I’m away for a week. I used to spend about an hour here a day, but the way things are going nowdays, I just don’t come around much anymore.
Maybe membership shouldn’t be free anymore. That’s the only thing I can think of to stop this. I, for one, would happily pay an anual fee for the pleasure of a troll-free SDMB. Anyone else as annoyed as I am?
I find myself hesitating to answer, since as soon as I do, we’ll be inundated with those same ne’re do wells!
I’m not sure what happened, but it seemed like once Michael Masterson was here, a little door was left open. Some who have come in here are just bored college kids. But, there is a whole other breed, that either post silly things, which you can skip, or the more annoying, name callers, and permanent chips on their shoulders, that follow other posters around the board.
I’m trying to split my time between here and Opal’s Forum, but it gets tiring to read threads that go on and on about the most trivial ‘you are a troll’ " NO, You’re the troll!" and trying to keep up with them, is a no win situation. It’s just becoming less and less fun.
But, I’m not sure that I can answer the OP with any validity as to the date, or to a particular happenstance that began the invasion. 
There are still great people here, so keep up your spirits by looking for their posts.

While there does seem to be a relatively large supply of trolls lately (well, not all THAT lately. The last few weeks have been fine, IMHO.), the threads Babar is referring to are not necessarily started by them. Sometimes, a poop or sex thread is even started by a (respected?) regular.
I suppose the adivse is: don’t read it if the thread title doesn’t appeal to you.
Example: I think RPG’s are really pointless. But I respect everyone who thinks otherwise. Occasionally, an RPG related thread pops up. I can either read these and be annoyed about how pointless an activity I think RPG is (which isn’t helping anyone), and even RESPOND in those threads (or post a new one, like this) expressing my loathing for the topic (which doesn’t help anyone either, plus it might piss off a few people). It is of course advisable to keep your opinion to yourself, in such a case.
